Mark Taper Forum tickets & upcoming events

The Mark Taper Forum is one of Los Angeles’ most iconic theaters, and honestly, it has a knack for hosting some pretty memorable performances. Think back to 2005 when it showcased the acclaimed production of The Clean House, a show that had audiences both laughing and crying in the same night. Or remember when it took on the bold challenge of hosting The Vagina Monologues in 2000, tackling issues of gender and sexuality head-on, definitely a moment of cultural significance. Opened way back on march 12th, 1967, as part of the LA Music Center, this place has a history of pushing creative boundaries. Its unique, flexible stage setups mean every show feels fresh, almost like stepping into a different world each time. For example, in 2017 they brought a whimsical, inventive twist to The Little Prince, making it feel like you were right there on that tiny planet with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved character. And it’s not just the shows that make this theater special. The sound design is top-notch thanks to its clever architecture, making sure every whisper and explosion hits just right. Getting there is a breeze, just head to the corner of 1st Street and Hope Street, or hop in a quick cab from the LA County Museum of Art down Wilshire. Whether you’re a theater junkie or just looking for a fun night out, the Taper’s dynamic space and varied seating options, from prime front-row spots to budget-friendly seats, make sure everyone finds their perfect view and sound. Honestly, if you’re into discovering new shows or catching a classic, this place is where the magic happens. So, yeah, the Mark Taper Forum isn’t just a theater, it’s a Los Angeles treasure that keeps surprising me every time I go.
